If Schönbrunn Palace is on your list of things to do in Vienna, we recommend a visit to the Residenz Café and Restaurant in the palace grounds for an amazing apple strudel baking show. Descend to the ground floor and you'll find a showroom that looks more like a cosy kitchen, stocked with all sorts of kitchen utensils and products. Sit down at one of the tables and you'll learn all about the traditions and techniques behind Austria's most popular and revered dessert.
The Viennese pastry chef will demonstrate and explain step by step how to make this culinary masterpiece. A cup of Viennese coffee and a slice of freshly baked strudel will round off the programme. We are sure that both adults and children will enjoy the most appetising and flavourful show and that the recipe you receive as a gift will become the most used and loved one in your home.
For an additional fee the café organises masterclasses for groups of up to 25 people, where each participant can not only learn all the secrets of this dessert, but also make their own strudel. You can taste the strudel here or give it as a gift to your friends and relatives.
The theoretical and practical part of the workshop lasts about an hour, with a further hour for baking and decorating. All workshop participants receive a Viennese strudel baking certificate and an original recipe for this delicious dessert. In the run-up to Christmas, the café organises special cake-making workshops for children.
