The Alpeniglu Snow and Ice Village is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to visit the magical world of snow and ice. The village, consisting of 18 igloos (Eskimo snow huts) and a fascinating exhibition of ice and snow sculptures, is located in the middle of the Brixen-im-Tale (Ski Welt resort), 150 metres from the Hochbrixen mountain station. It's easy to get to the village: 8 minutes on the lift and you're there.
The material used to create the compositions is own crystal-clear ice. Huge blocks of ice, made using a special technology, weigh around 120 kg each and are used not only to make the sculptures, but also for benches, tables, glasses, plates in the bar and other design elements presented in the village. The special multi-coloured lighting of the sculptures and the huts themselves creates a kind of unusual atmosphere that enhances the experience of what you see.
Alpeniglu offers guided tours in several languages every half hour, during which the guide explains the ice-making process, the sculptures displayed in the huts and the craftsmen who created these masterpieces. The theme of the compositions changes every year. Guests wishing to stay overnight at Alpeniglu choose one of the detached snow huts, which can accommodate from 2 to 8 people.
And don't worry about the cold — all the rooms are well insulated with reindeer fur and guests sleep in comfortable sleeping bags. The experience is not cheap: one night's accommodation for an adult costs between 185 and 240 euros, depending on the category of room, but the experience is indescribable.
In addition to the "snow" hotel, tourists will find a chapel, an igloo shop, a children's hut and, of course, many unusual sculptures along the way. At the Eristoff Ice Bar you can relax in spite of the cold and order a drink in a crystal-clear glass of ice.
