If you and your little one love extreme entertainment, if you love that exhilarating feeling of freedom and fearlessness that only children have, then you should definitely spend a day at Taunus Wonderland in the north-west of Wiesbaden. This park is set in picturesque surroundings, just half an hour drive from Frankfurt am Main. Surrounded by green trees and grass, it is beautiful, fresh and fun.
Thrill rides, speed, run-ups, soaring, diving, splashing and more await you at Taunus Wunderland. The park welcomes everyone who wants to go down a roller coaster, ride the local train and climb to the top of a plastic tower that's high, steep and completely safe. In other words, one day here is often not enough to try all the local attractions.
Taunus Wonderland first opened to the public in May 1966. It was originally set up as a beautiful woodland walk and mini-zoo with a small number of exotic animals. In 1998, Taunus was sold to the Otto Barth family, who still owns the park today. With a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry, the family has turned the mini-zoo into one of the most interesting facilities in the region, positioned as a place for outdoor activities with children.
Once inside the Taunus Wunderland, the Haunted Cellar and the Haunted House will give you the creeps. These attractions are suitable for very young children.
But the real thrills are to be found on the Wonderland's steep rides. The 500 metre long and 22 metre deep rafting down a wild mountain river will appeal to all speed, thrill and splash fans. The Blast & Drop attraction will take you 17 metres into the air and then plunge you back down. The Pirate Ship, with Jack Sparrow on board, bobs and weaves as if ploughing through unruly, foaming seas and oceans. Classic rides include the Ferris wheel, several types of merry-go-rounds, the spinning barrel and the Taunus simulator, all of which are available for your enjoyment.
Curious youngsters love to explore the local themed areas. The Taunus Park's 'primeval world', for example, is always busy. Babies and older children alike explore the primeval fauna. They can meet giant lizards, dinosaurs, shaggy mammoths, giant dragonflies and even the first wild humans. Young animal lovers can also get a glimpse of modern wildlife — Wonderland Park has a number of tame animals, some of which can even be petted.
Want your child to let off steam? On a trampoline! Hip, tummy and back jumps, somersaults and other pirouettes are the order of the day for nimble little acrobats. And if you get hungry, there is a very cosy restaurant with panoramic windows overlooking the whole park.
