A visit to an amusement park is always fun for children: some have their favourite rides, while others are looking for something new. A real gift for children is the opportunity to try out the many rides at Hansa Park, for example. It is the fifth largest theme park in Germany. It opened in 1977 and every year new rides, rollercoasters and play worlds are built. Today the park has 125 rides for visitors of all ages.
A glance at a map of the area will take you first to one of the themed areas. There is the Land of Adventure for the most curious and active, Viking Land and Bonanza City for the more adventurous and gambling. The Mexican Zone is all about celebration and the atmosphere of old-fashioned fairs can be experienced in a separate area of the park. The largest themed area is still under construction and a medieval town symbolising the Hanseatic League of Free Cities is beginning to take shape. The park is named after the Hanseatic League.
22 km away is the wonderful Bird Park Niendorf, which we recommend to visit with the whole family
The little ones have their own children's world with fun and safe activities. But even the little ones can join their parents on a steamroller ride or a boat trip on the lake. There are also special animal shows for younger guests. Younger schoolchildren can take part in an adventure play centre where they can feel like Tom Sawyer and Robinson Crusoe at the same time.
If you're more of a thrill-seeker, you won't be disappointed. Here you can ride the roller coaster, soar into the sky and plunge back down on the Flying Shark, feel the tongue of the giant Bell or ride the chain carousel, but at a height of 85 metres. And all the brave souls without exception can climb the 100-metre Holstein Tower, where you can feel the salty breeze from the Baltic Sea and see the whole park.
In autumn, when it gets dark early, Hansa Park comes alive with lights. Glowing garlands, flowers and mythical creatures break the darkness, while scattered fireworks in the sky evoke the colourful autumn leaves.
When you've had enough of the hustle and bustle, take the family for a stroll through the park's cosy lanes and see the plants in bloom. There are picnic areas in almost all of the themed areas, so you can enjoy a delicious lunch on the grass. Hansa Park also has cafes and restaurants with children's menus. There are also a number of colourful shops and souvenir stalls.
