Serengeti Park

Serengeti Park

Germany, Hodenhagen

You don't have to travel to faraway Africa or South African safari parks to get up close and personal with exotic animals. If you are lucky enough to be in northern Germany, in the Hamburg or Hanover area, you and your child should definitely visit the Serengeti Safari Park, where you can get up close and personal with the wild animals.

The Serengeti Safari Park is divided into four themed areas: the ape family, the animal kingdom, the amusement park and the water world. You can get to all these areas by car or by the local double-decker buses with panoramic windows, so that the children never miss a thing.

There are daily shows in each area of the park: in the Water World you'll see the Punch and Judy Show or the African Magic Show. In the entertainment area, the Zambezi Water Show awaits you and your child. And at Monkeys you can watch the feeding animals of the family Hominidae in the man-made Amboseli National Park. You can also see this incredible spectacle from the local suspension bridge.

The Monkey Zone is one of the most popular areas for children of all ages in the Serengeti. There is always a large crowd of children here. The monkeys that live here immediately captivate visitors with their directness and incredible resemblance to humans. There are more than 20 species of primates, including not only small Saymiris and lemurs, but also giant chimpanzees and gorillas.

It is highly recommended that you take a day to visit this fascinating place. After all, the Serengeti is home to some 1,500 species, including not only bison, emu ostriches, rhinos, zebras and giraffes, but also serious predators such as the mighty lion and striped tiger. However, there is no need to be afraid — the predators are kept in large, secure enclosures under the watchful eye of park staff, and there are always park staff in vehicles in each outdoor area to make sure you are doing well.

As well as the big and exotic, the Serengeti Safari Park is home to some of the more calm animals: goats, geese, sheep, fallow deer and about 200 other harmless and peaceful bats and birds. It is believed to be the largest breeding site in Europe. There is also a local "elephant nursery", believed to be one of the largest in Germany. We recommend that you leave your car behind and take your child for a walk in this area.

If you're visiting Serengeti Safari Park with your little ones, there's plenty for them to do too. Take your little one to the BabyPark, a separate area for 2 to 4 year olds.

Once you've completed your journey through the animal areas, it's time to have some fun in the amusement area. Although the rides are very modest, you can stay with the children for a long time. All the attractions are included in the price of your Serengeti ticket. A similar theme park, Dinopark, is located 86 kilometres from Serengeti in the town of Muenhehagen. It takes about an hour and a half to reach.
