Krone Circus

Krone Circus

Germany, Munich

The luxurious modern Krone Circus in Munich traces its history back to the travelling menagerie of Carl Krone, which began touring the cities of Europe in 1870. A quarter of a century later, the menagerie became a permanent circus, settling in Munich in 1919.

Its founder, Carl Krone Jr, was keen to develop colourful programmes and coined the circus's motto: "Our aim is the joy on your faces!" Today, the huge circus tent can accommodate 5,000 adults and children who are thrilled by the sight of jugglers, acrobats, illusionists and trained animals.

All of Krone's programmes harmoniously combine traditional circus acts with modern shows. This is reflected in the overall concept, the choice of music and costumes, the staging of each act on stage and the use of the latest technology. The variety of genres is also designed to amaze the audience without exception.

2 km from the circus is the Old Pinakothek, which we recommend for adults and young art lovers alike.

The courage of aerialists performing tricks from a height of 14 metres; the fearlessness of animal tamers; the dexterity of tightrope walkers; the skill of equestrians — voltigeurs; the mystery of magicians who make objects disappear and reappear; the charm of animals demonstrating their skills to applause; the humour of clowns — this is why so many people love the circus.

Children are usually most attracted to the animals in the programme. The crowning glory of the Kroņe Circus is the performance of trained elephants. When the beasts of prey take to the stage, a rare white lion is among the cats on the stage. The circus also has a menagerie: you can see the animals resting before the performance. The circus has a large area at its disposal.

There is a little trick: if you sit close to the arena, at the end of the show you can get a pretzel — a fresh pretzel with salt — from the hands of the circus performers. Considering that the show lasts about three hours, this is a very pleasant surprise. The circus also has a buffet. It must be said that this circus is world famous: it has successfully toured many cities, and many famous people from all over the world try to join its troupe. And Munich is so beloved by the Krone family that the street next to the circus is named after them.
