Tibidabo Amusement Park

Tibidabo Amusement Park

Spain, Barcelona

Children know very well what amusement parks are. But not every child had to ride on carousels installed a hundred years ago. But the Tibidabo amusement park (Parc d'Atraccions del Tibidabo) in Barcelona has a whole set of old swings-carousels that regularly fulfil their main goal — to amuse children.

Mount Tibidabo in Barcelona is the highest mountain in the city. Many tourists come here to admire Barcelona from the observation deck of the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. But no less breathtaking view opens from the Ferris wheel or the roller coaster cabin (if you have time to look around).

The park has about three dozen attractions, including several trains, a pirate schooner, Viking longships and an air express. Intrepid visitors have a direct path to the roller coaster or to the haunted castle of Misteriós. Squealing with horror mixed with delight, you will be on the rides of Diavolo and Hurakan.

The kids like the Alaska attraction the most: a swim on the back of a fur seal around an ice floe on which penguins and polar bears walk. But with no less joy, they go on the carousel "Balloons". Of course, Tibidabo Park also has a favourite entertainment for all children — trampolines. There are few attractions for minor children — most are designed for children taller than 1.20 m.

The Sky Walk luna park is located on the highest mountain in Barcelona. It has only eight attractions, but among them, there is an old Avió flight simulator built back in 1928. The aeroplanes rise pretty high above the ground: it's easy to feel like a real pilot. Tibidabo Park also houses a museum of mechanical toys. It features 40 automaton puppets created in the 19th-20th century.

There are several shows in Tibidabo Barcelona. The most crowded is near the monster-infested Hotel Krüeger. If you don't like horror movies, take your child to a small puppet theatre or a 4D cinema.

There are several cafés and restaurants in the amusement park. There's also an excellent picnic area. The first (or final) adventure is a ride on Barcelona's oldest cable car, which started operating in 1901.
