The fastest way to see the city's main attractions is by bus. However, the Teleférico de Madrid, a cable car, is a rival in Madrid. The cable car beats the bus in many ways: the ride takes only 11 minutes, the view from a height of 40 metres is incomparable, and the Teleférico arrives at the Casa de Campo park, where there is a zoo and amusement park. This is an excellent way to organise a family holiday in Madrid without compromising the young and adult travellers.
The Teleferico cable car started operating in 1969. It was built by the Swedish company Von-Rol. Every few minutes, a cable car leaves the station in the centre of the capital and travels a distance of 2.5 km. The Madrid Cable Car has 80 cabins, each with a capacity of up to 5 passengers.
What's to see along the way? The Royal Palace, the ancient Egyptian temple of Debod restored on Spanish soil; the Oeste Park rose garden; the Torrespaña TV tower, the fantastic skyscrapers of Madrid and the Manzanares River. The main thing is not to miss the moment when the tallest amusement park rides appear among the greenery of Casa de Campo. Once you do, deciding on your next holiday is up to you.
The cable car in Madrid ends on a hill at Casa de Campo. At the highest point of the park is the Pumba playground, for children and adults can enjoy national cuisine at the Teleférico restaurant and continue their exploration of the city.
Tickets for the cable car can be purchased at the ticket office at the entrance.
