Valencia is a city with a peaceful atmosphere and a leisurely resort life. Walking around's enjoyable, but there's a long way to go to get around all the sights. That is why at least the first sightseeing walk is best taken by the Valencia Bus Touristic. It takes you around the most critical places in the city, and you can easily find your way around what to see in Valencia with your child.
The red double-decker open-top buses run on three routes. The red 'Historical Route' runs through the city centre, covering Valencia's main attractions. The sightseeing tour lasts 90 minutes, but at any of the eight stops, you can get off, see what catches your eye and then get on the next bus. The hop on/hop off system allows you to hop on and off as many times as you like during the ticket's validity (Valencia has 24 and 48-hour validity tickets).
What is there to appeal to travellers with children on a red route? Just about everything: the African savannah in Valencia Bioparс, the Turia Gardens, the interactive museums of the City of Arts and Science and the unusual playground in Gulliver Park. The buses on this route also stop at the Bullfighting Museum. Or would you like to visit the Institute of Contemporary Art? You can combine a tour of the Turia Gardens or the Valencian Bullfighting Museum with a sightseeing tour, and preferably take a whole day off to visit the Bioparc and the City of Arts and Science.
A trip through the oceans and seas at Europe's largest aquarium fits in well with the theme of the itinerary. One site in the City of Arts and Sciences, Oceanographic Park, is highlighted on the blue Sea Trail map. Alternatively, Valencia's tour bus will take you to the Marina Real and prepare to be surprised if you see the port as a bleak, chaotic place. Afterwards, you can take the bus to Valencia's best beach, Malvarosa, for a nice soak in the sun and a dip in the warm sea. Conveniently, the ticket allows you to change between the blue and red buses and vice versa.
Another attraction to visit on Valencia's tour bus is the Albufera Natural Park. To visit there, choose the green route. Albufera Lake is separated from the sea by a thin strip of land, but that's enough to give it its ecosystem. The trip lasts two hours, but you can stay on the lake as long as you like by checking the bus timetable. However, you need to get into those details to enjoy a boat ride, bird watching, and intoxicating silence.
