Overview
American Dance Festival (ADF) offers an unparalleled summer camp experience for young dancers eager to explore the art of movement. Recognized as one of the most prestigious dance institutions in the world, ADF has been shaping the future of modern dance since 1934. Its summer camps are a perfect opportunity for children and teens to grow as dancers while experiencing the joy of creativity and self-expression.
The ADF summer camps run from June 10 to July 26, 2024, with multiple week-long sessions designed for dancers of all levels. Each session immerses campers in a variety of dance styles, including modern, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, African dance, and even unique offerings like "Science & Movement." Classes are taught by expert faculty who are not only accomplished dancers but also passionate educators dedicated to inspiring their students.
Here’s what makes ADF camps special:
Diverse Dance Styles: Campers will explore a wide range of techniques, from modern jazz with Daisy Hodge to African dance with McDaniel Roberts and hip-hop with Ife Presswood or Jose Velasquez. Each week introduces new instructors and styles, ensuring a fresh and exciting experience for returning campers.
Performance Opportunities: At the end of each session, campers receive tickets to professional performances like the Paul Taylor Dance Company children’s matinee or "Footprints," giving them a chance to witness world-class dance up close.
Flexible Options: Camps run Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM, with early drop-off (8–8:30 AM) and late pick-up (3:30–4 PM) available for an additional fee. This flexibility makes it easier for busy families to participate.
Affordable All-Inclusive Pricing: At $300 per week, the camp fee includes top-notch instruction and performance tickets. Parents can rest assured they’re investing in a high-quality program that balances education and fun.
Campers will need comfortable clothing that allows for free movement, a bag lunch, and plenty of water to stay energized throughout the day. The program is designed not only to teach technical skills but also to foster creativity, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for dance as an art form.
Whether your child is new to dance or already experienced, ADF’s summer camps provide an inspiring environment where they can grow as performers while having fun. It’s more than just a camp—it’s a gateway into the vibrant world of modern dance!
