ASU - Cronkite Summer Journalism Institute

United States, Phoenix

Overview

For high school students with a passion for storytelling and a dream of diving into the world of journalism, the ASU Cronkite Summer Journalism Institute offers an unparalleled opportunity. This two-week residential program, hosted at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, provides an immersive experience in broadcast and digital journalism. Participants will sharpen their skills in reporting, writing, and multimedia production through hands-on training led by seasoned professionals. From crafting compelling stories to producing newscasts and creating multimedia content, every activity is designed to prepare students for the fast-paced world of media. The program also includes portfolio-building opportunities, giving students a head start in their future careers. Living in a supervised residential hall alongside peers from diverse backgrounds adds a taste of college life to the experience. Beyond academics, students will form connections and memories that last a lifetime. However, this isn’t a program you can just stroll into—admission is competitive. Applicants must have completed their freshman year of high school by the program’s start date. The application process includes a March 17 deadline, so interested students should act quickly. Whether you're dreaming of becoming the next great investigative journalist or simply exploring your interest in media, this camp is an exceptional stepping stone. It’s more than just a summer camp—it’s an investment in your future as a storyteller.
