Camp Tavor

Camp Tavor

United States, Three Rivers

Overview

Dive into the rich history and vibrant activities of Camp Tavor, a gem for children seeking an engaging summer experience. With a foundation deeply rooted in North American history, Camp Tavor offers a blend of swimming and general sports activities that spark both physical enthusiasm and team spirit. The camp's story begins in 1935, with the establishment of Habonim, a Labor Zionist youth movement. Evolving over the years, Habonim merged with sister movement Dror in the 1980s, creating Habonim Dror North America, an organization coordinating Israel programs across 20 countries. Camp Tavor's tale is a testament to resilience and adaptability. The first Midwest Habonim camp, Camp Tel Chai, sprang to life in 1936, only to be consumed by fire in 1944. Yet, the spirit of the camp lived on, transitioning to a rented site in Savannah, IL for a couple of years, before finding a new home at Yad Ari near Waupaca, WI between 1948 and 1954. Today, Camp Tavor stands as a testament to this rich history, offering kids a space to enjoy, learn and grow. The mingling of sports with a historical legacy makes the camp a perfect haven for young minds to explore their potential, while also appreciating the value of heritage and community. So, pack your child's summer with the joy of active play and the warmth of communal camaraderie at Camp Tavor—a place where youthful energy meets historical depth.
