Camp Wamp

Camp Wamp

United States, Soda Springs

Overview

Camp Wamp is a summer camp like no other, offering children with physical disabilities the chance to embrace the great outdoors and discover what they *can* do. Tucked away in the High Sierras near Lake Tahoe, this camp delivers a week of unforgettable experiences, where campers aged 10 to 18 sleep under the stars and dive into adventure-filled days. The activities at Camp Wamp are as inclusive as they are exciting. From fishing and canoeing to hiking and survival challenges, every camper gets to enjoy the magic of nature. Even rock climbing becomes accessible thanks to an adaptive climbing wall that welcomes all abilities. Nights are spent around the campfire, singing songs and forging friendships that often last a lifetime. For those who love a hands-on learning twist, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) programs are woven into the week, helping campers solve problems tailored to their unique needs—all in an outdoor classroom setting. Founded by Stephen J. Wampler, who himself lives with cerebral palsy, Camp Wamp is built on a philosophy of optimism and independence. It’s more than just a camp—it’s a place where kids learn to push boundaries and embrace their potential. Scholarships are available so that no child is turned away due to financial constraints.
