Overview
The Duke University Pre-College Programs offer middle and high school students (grades 6–11) an exceptional opportunity to explore advanced academic topics, gain early exposure to college life, and connect with peers from around the world. These programs are designed for academically motivated students who want to challenge themselves in a supportive and engaging environment.
Program Offerings
Residential Program (Middle and High School Students)
Duration: Two weeks
Experience: Students live in Duke dormitories, dine in campus dining halls, and participate in courses led by Duke faculty. The program includes extracurricular activities and access to Duke’s world-class facilities.
Focus Areas: STEM, arts, humanities, social sciences, and more.
Hybrid Program (High School Students)
Duration: One week online (synchronous/asynchronous) + one week residential
Experience: Combines the flexibility of online learning with the immersive experience of living on campus.
Labs & Expert Panels Week (High School Students)
Duration: One week
Experience: Hands-on learning in Duke’s state-of-the-art labs and discussions with leading experts in various fields.
Online Program (High School Students)
Duration: Two weeks
Experience: Study from home with both live Zoom sessions and flexible asynchronous coursework. Engage in collaborative group activities with peers worldwide.
College Credit Courses (High School Students)
Eligibility: Rising 10th–11th graders
Experience: Take undergraduate-level courses for credit, either as a commuter or online student.
