Overview

For kids who dream of horses and thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment, Hunkapi Camps offer an unforgettable summer experience. These camps are tailored for children aged 7 to 17, including those with special needs such as autism or visual impairments, ensuring every camper feels welcome and supported. The program revolves around the unique bond between horse and human, fostering personal growth and life skills alongside horsemanship. Each camper is paired with a horse for the week, learning to care for and ride their equine companion as if it were their own. Daily horsemanship lessons—lasting at least an hour—cover riding techniques, horse care, and even fun horse facts. Beginners start with bareback pads to develop balance and connection, while advanced riders can choose between English or Western saddles. But it’s not all about riding. Campers also dive into arts and crafts, outdoor recreation, and group discussions that connect lessons learned at the barn to life beyond it. The program’s design encourages teamwork, accountability, and emotional growth in a fun-filled setting. With trained staff on hand to assist children with special needs, every camper has the opportunity to shine. Hunkapi offers half-day and full-day camps in June, with overnight options in July for those ready for an extended adventure. Whether your child is a seasoned rider or new to the saddle, this camp promises a week of connection, learning, and memories that will last a lifetime.
