Overview
Welcome to a world of boundless creativity, the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts, where Kansas students are offered the extraordinary opportunity to brainstorm, design, compose, and produce an original work of musical theatre in just a week. The content of the show? That's in the hands of the group – a unique feature of Lovewell workshops that sets them apart from the ordinary.
The goal here is to assemble a diverse team of students, ranging from those entering high school to college freshmen. The purpose? To create a unified piece of theatre with music, a work that represents their collective stories. The emphasis is on the creative process, with the performance being a significant yet not sole aspect of the workshop. This creative hub welcomes writers, actors, poets, dreamers, singers, visual artists, composers, musicians, designers, and creative minds of all kinds.
Lovewell Institute, since 1989, has been a beacon of creativity, conducting workshops globally, from New York to Stockholm. Over the years, it has been a cradle for over 70 original shows and 700 original songs, leaving an indelible mark on thousands of lives. Their original shows have graced stages across America and Sweden, bagging the highest state honors at Thespian Festivals.
The institute’s staff, a team of professional artists and educational experts, are committed to instilling the fundamentals of problem-based learning and constructivism into the creative process. They are seasoned professionals, teaching at renowned universities, directing professional productions, and making significant contributions to various creative fields. Their belief? Sharing creativity is the best gift they can give back to the world.
