Story Book Lodge Christian Camp

Story Book Lodge Christian Camp

United States, Gilbert

Overview

Roaming the vast landscape of family-friendly camps, Story Book Lodge Christian Camp stands as a beacon of adventure and faith-based learning. From general sports to snowboarding and skiing, this camp is a haven for those with a thirst for outdoor escapades. But this isn't just a place for physical feats; it's a sanctuary where children can explore their spiritual path, making it a hub for both assorted adventures and Christian teachings. The camp's roots are as fascinating as its modern-day offerings. In the year of 1929, a 45-acre plot of land was acquired by Elizabeth Speriestersbach, a remarkable teacher and social worker of German descent. This land, purchased for a mere $1,700 at a sheriff's sale, was home to a humble 10-foot by 12-foot hunting shack, yet it held an untamed beauty that caught Elizabeth's eye. With red pine and birch trees dotting the landscape, a generous 1000 feet of lakeshore, and four secluded islands, it was a slice of natural paradise waiting to be transformed into a place of learning and growth. Today, Story Book Lodge Christian Camp continues to operate on this very land, its rustic charm unspoiled and its mission steadfast. As children navigate the world of snow sports and embark on thrilling adventures, they are also given a chance to delve into their spiritual selves. And so, the camp carries on Elizabeth's legacy, offering a unique blend of fun, faith, and fellowship that each camper will remember long after their stay.
