Hotel GIO München
Hotel Herzog, Häberlstrasse 9, 80337 München
Overview
The three-star Hotel GIO Munich is close to the historic centre of Munich, which is a big plus. The rooms are not very large, as is often the case in European three-star hotels, and sleep one to three people, with children under 6 staying free. The stylish rooms at Hotel GIO have been completely renovated and feature a private bathroom with a rain shower and hairdryer. Some rooms also have a balcony.
There's no self-catering or tea-making facilities in the rooms. Instead, the Italian restaurant on the ground floor serves not only a classic European breakfast buffet, but also excellent pizza, which the chefs prepare in front of the guests. What's more, the prices on the menu are in line with those of neighbouring restaurants.
In October, the Hotel GIO Munich is the centre of the Oktoberfest and the area is teeming with establishments of all sizes and price ranges. As a result, it is not difficult to find an alternative to the hotel restaurant. Finding a comparable hotel with similar access to public transport is more difficult.
For self-guided city tours, the tram and bus stops are a stone's throw from the hotel. A short walk away is the S-Bahn, which will take you to the farthest reaches of the city. And walkers with children can reach the historic city centre with Munich Zoo, museums, parks and other attractions in half an hour.

Food and Drink
Guests of Hotel GIO Munich can order a continental breakfast buffet at the Italian restaurant Oliveto, located on the ground floor of the hotel. The breakfast menu is typical of continental Europe — lots of pastries and cakes, several types of cheese, oatmeal, several types of hot dishes (new every day).
During the day, the restaurant offers Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, including several types of delicious pizza cooked in front of the guests. And in the evenings you can relax on the terrace in the open area of the restaurant and enjoy a real Italian dinner.
The hotel is surrounded by coffee shops, cafes and restaurants in a variety of price ranges, all with their own breakfast facilities. Beer gardens, such as the famous Hacker-Pschorr restaurant and brewery, which in autumn becomes the scene of the Oktoberfest, are the most common. But Balkan cuisine (for those tired of German sausages and stewed cabbage) or the famous McDonald's (which every child should know) are also within walking distance.
Oliveto is an excellent place to eat in the evening:
