Best Dinosaur Parks in Europe

Every year there are more and more amusement parks, theme parks, children's leisure centres and many other exciting places where parents tend to go with their children to make their childhood even more colourful and happy. Dinosaur parks are unique in the vast list of attractions for children. It's safe to say that today's children are fortunate to have more travel opportunities than previous generations.

The craving for the mysterious and unexplored is inherent in all children, without exception. Stories about dinosaurs and their life, covered with a veil of mystery, excite children's imagination and make the hearts of young and curious listeners beat with excitement. And what could be more entertaining than a visit to a park where all the stories about dinosaurs come true? What did these animals look like? What did they eat? What did dinosaur eggs look like? Why and when did they become extinct? All these questions, and more, can be answered by our little "geeks" with a visit to one of these thematic centres.

Furthermore, a visit to a dinosaur park is not only entertaining but also educational. So if you haven't yet taken a trip back in time with your family, we recommend you do so soon, and we offer a selection of what we consider to be the most exciting dinosaur parks in Europe.

1. Dinopolis (Teruel, Aragón, Spain)

Spain is famous for amusement parks all over the world. It is, therefore, no surprise that it is home to one of the largest amusement parks dedicated to the life of the dinosaurs, which, since 1998, has evolved and expanded into an entire town with several branches in neighbouring regions. Dinopolis is located in Teruel, the capital of one of the three Aragonese provinces.

The enormous area houses a palaeontology museum, a Zauroparc amusement park with swings and carousels in the Stone Age style, several attractions that take you back in time, a 3D cinema, a 4D simulator and the Dinotienda. In this leisure area, you can eat in the restaurant and buy some nice souvenirs as a memento of your visit.

To discover how and why the dinosaurs disappeared, visit the fascinating attraction called El último minuto, which translates as "The Last Minute". On the boat ride, you'll see images of the life of the dinosaurs, the process of their disappearance and the emergence of Homo sapiens. Are you looking for adventure? Join the Paleotropa Adventure Trail, where every metre is a challenge for the brave.

They roar, twirl their heads and tails, and bend over if you approach them.

There are a total of 40 dinosaurs in the park. The creators of the park paid great attention to their little visitors, so besides walking and getting to know these animals, children can sit and ride on the freestanding exhibits, visit a small amusement park, play in the sandpit and even communicate with the animals in a mini-zoo, for the parents and their kids' convenience special dinosaur-shaped trolleys are available, which will be an excellent way to get around if the kids get tired (and they will have to walk for a long time).

Approximately 120 life-size dinosaur figures are located along a circular path, 4 km long, arranged according to the era in which they inhabited the globe. Here you can also see the real skeleton of an ancient lizard.

4. Dinopark (Kemer, Turkey)

Dinopark is particularly popular with tourists with children vacationing in Kemer resorts. The park is in a forested area near the resort village of Geynük and the main road between Antalya and Kemer. Apart from 25 interactive dinosaur figurines, the 30,000 sqm area has several attractions for adults and children, including a planetarium, mini club, 7D cinema, trampolines, pools with inflatable boats, children's climbing wall, restaurants and cafes.

You can get all the information you need about the dinosaurs from the plaques next to the exhibits. It is nice that the text is not only in Turkish but also in Russian.

One of the most exciting activities for the younger visitors to DinoPark Kemer is excavating the remains of the dinosaurs. Children can be real palaeontologists on a specially equipped sand playground, finding valuable finds in the sand as artificial dinosaur bones. As in many other parks, kids can climb on the backs of some dinosaurs and ride this unusual attraction.

Croatia doesn't spoil much with theme parks, but there is a dinosaur park, even several. One of them is located in the fishing village of Funtana on the western coast of Istria. The mechanical dinosaur figures, which move and make noises as soon as a visitor approaches them, are set amid a shady pine forest. Even on the hottest day, you can comfortably walk along the mile-long dinosaur path. Another theme park to visit while on holiday is by the sea.

In addition to the dinosaurs, the park has a show arena that runs from mid-June to mid-September and organises various events, including circus shows, magicians and motorcyclists. Attendance at the show is already included in the ticket price. For younger visitors to the Funtana Dino Park, there are trampolines, carousels, a playground with a swimming pool, a petting zoo, pony or steam train rides and a children's ropeway.

You can walk through the parkland and interact with the ancient animals independently or as part of a guided tour group.

7. Roarr Dino Park (UK)

East Anglia, in the county of Norfolk, is home to a fascinating park where locals tend to bring their children along for the day. And indeed, for dinosaur enthusiasts and beyond, the 100 acres of woodland and parkland occupied by Roarr Dino Park is sure to have plenty to do.

Firstly, you must walk the dinosaur trail and see all its inhabitants. Then in a separate section, to get acquainted with the life of Neanderthals, excavate the remains of a dinosaur in the sand, visit a mini zoo, and get a medal with the image of a dinosaur by placing a stamp with the image of the corresponding animal in a special passport (you can get it at certain stations of the park).

After such a busy programme, it's time to relax! The rest for the kids is a game. Roarr Dino Park is a wonderful indoor and outdoor Dinomite complex. The indoor area is a three-level fun zone with various mazes and slides and a cafe where parents usually wait for their children. The outdoor area has swings, slides and dingle ball courts. The park also has a well-equipped picnic area where the whole family can spend quality time and share what they've seen.

8. DinoPark (Pilsen, Czech Republic)

The Czech town of Pilsen is known for its brewing tradition and its wonderful zoo and dinosaur park, which are combined into one large family recreation centre. About 20 dinosaurs of varying sizes and colours greet park visitors with hisses, growls and moves with distinctive, terrifying noises. The life-sized figures bear a striking resemblance to real dinosaurs, as real palaeontologists designed them. The moving dinosaur figures and the park's design allow you to completely erase the timeline and take a trip back to the Mesozoic era.

Children tired of wandering around the park can take the express train for a tour on wheels. The park's pride and joy is the Wollemia Nobilis, found over 175 million years ago and thought to be long since extinct. In 1994, the plant was discovered in the forests of Australia, causing a sensation and one of the specimens was successfully buried in the Pilsen Dinosaur Park.

As an educational tool, view one of the park's 20-minute documentaries, which reveals many interesting facts about life and the evolutionary process of the planet Earth. At the end of your walk through the park, you can refresh yourself in the dinosaur café and buy "prehistoric" souvenirs from the souvenir shop.
