It's hard to think of a better way to entertain children than a trip to a theme park. The big parks take a day or two to visit, but a small centre offers two to three hours of fun without tiring the child. If you're holidaying with children in Salzburg, Salzburgerland, Reit im Winkl or another nearby holiday village or town, we recommend Familienland.
Nestled in the mountains of Tyrol, this amazing and intimate amusement park offers games, fun and entertainment for the whole family. The Berger family have been working on the park for over 25 years and new rides are constantly being added. More than 50 attractions on 20,000 m² await visitors of all ages.
The name says it all — the whole family is welcome, although most of the rides are still aimed at children of different ages. Children can run around the playground, which is surrounded by fairytale characters and animal figures. The playground doesn't mind playing with visitors either, with the occasional sprinkler to keep the kids entertained. Attractions for the little ones include a fun train and merry-go-round, trampolines and cannons that shoot soft balls.
But sometimes you can't do without the support of mum or dad. Only parents can help keep a crocodile on its tail as it swims down the river. A trip to the land of dragons and Vikings is also best done as a family. Teenagers can go rafting on an artificial river on their own. Other attractions for older children include a roller coaster, a giant swing in the shape of a pirate ship and an extreme cowboy ride. After all the excitement, visit the small zoo on the Family Land site. There are monkeys, ponies, donkeys and goats. The primates are kept in cages, but you can pet and feed the goats and ponies.
And if the weather isn't too good on the day of your visit, don't worry, Family Land has a colourful indoor play maze 'NEW', an 8-person trampoline, a balloon pool, 'NEW' parkour, a rope climbing garden and a bouldering and climbing hall. There is also an excellent climbing wall where both beginners and experienced climbers can test their mettle. There are 80 different routes to choose from.
There is also a salt cave where salt from the Dead Sea is used. Speleotherapy is indicated for respiratory diseases and has a restorative effect. The cave is equipped with comfortable deck chairs for adults and toys for children.
Guests arriving by car can park for free.
