Every young Viennese knows this museum with the short name Zoom. It is a huge, 1600 square metre children's entertainment complex with regularly changing and interesting exhibitions. Zoom is located almost in the centre of the Austrian capital, in the famous Museum Quarter. Walk down the picturesque Mariahilfer Strasse and you will certainly see a large, bright sign at the end: "ZOOM Children's Museum". You're very welcome.
The adventures that await you and your children are incredible and extraordinary. The exhibition area, which is divided into several themed rooms, is full of the most unusual, educational and exciting games and exhibits for children. All 4 exhibition areas are designed to develop the human senses. Accompanied by adults, children will discover the art of making animated films, learn how difficult it is to compose music, perform complex dance steps or create masterpieces of painting.
The exhibition room introduces children to the elements of adult life in an interactive way. They can play the role of fathers and mothers, build a real family with grandmothers, grandfathers, children, spouses and pets, and choose a career and learn the basics of it.
Children under 6 will love the Zoom Ocean area, which is designed to look like a ship in the ocean. There are lots of interesting and fun rides designed to develop all of a child's senses at the same time. Children climb on the ship, turn the steering wheels, press different buttons and catch fish.
Zoom Studio gives children the opportunity to try out methods and materials that often don't fit into kindergartens, schools and day-care centres, usually because they take up too much space or are impractical. The work in the ZOOM Studio is process-oriented: it is not so much the finished product that is important, but the individual experience of the children, accompanied by the artists of the ZOOM team. Special attention is paid to the encounters, experiences and conversations that take place during the work.
The ZOOM Animated Movie Studio is a place at the ZOOM Children's Museum where children can experiment with new technologies and work in teams to create animated movies and sounds without any prior technical knowledge.
It should be noted that all the exhibits in the Children's Museum are interactive. That is why the young inhabitants of Vienna, as well as the guests of the capital who managed to visit the entertainment complex, are of the same opinion: ZOOM is not an ordinary museum, but a magical, bright and colourful world of contemporary art.
IMPORTANT: The ZOOM Children's Museum in Vienna has age restrictions for visiting certain exhibitions:
ZOOM exhibition for children aged 6 to 12.
ZOOM Studio for children from 3 to 12 years.
ZOOM Oсean for children from 8 months to 6 years.
ZOOM Trickfilmstudio for children from 8 to 14 years.
Remember to bring indoor shoes - at the entrance to the museum all visitors are politely but insistently asked to remove their shoes.
