All children love the circus, and some love it so much that they not only want to watch the colourful performances but also take part in them. In Berlin, the Cabuwazi Children's Circus offers performances by young artists from toddlers to teenagers.
Cabuwazi opened in Germany in 1994. Legend has it that it all started when some ordinary children in Berlin learnt to ride unicycles and came up with some interesting tricks. To show off their skills, the kids started performing at neighbourhood and city events. It turned out that many of the children who saw the performance were so inspired that they too decided to take up circus arts. A children's circus was opened for the beginners, and anyone could come to the circus. Soon the acrobats were joined by animal trainers and clowns.
At 3.7 km is the Computer Games Museum, which will definitely be of interest to children.
Today, Cabuwazi is one of the largest children's and youth circuses in Europe, regularly touring Germany and the world. The circus has around 650 young artists and a colourful and varied programme.
Today, there are five circus tents in the German capital that are open for performances. For particularly enthusiastic young spectators, the circus offers five-day courses during the summer months. During this time, children are taught the basics of acrobatics, juggling and unicycling. At the end of the course, the aspiring circus performers show their skills to their friends and parents.
