Bimmelbahn Mini Train

Bimmelbahn Mini Train

Germany, Cologne

Isn't a trip around Cologne the most exciting adventure for a child on holiday in one of Europe's most beautiful cities? We recommend that you choose one of the routes on the Bimmelbahn mini-train. This will allow you to see Cologne from different angles and explore all its famous sights in comfort.

Bimmelbahn Cologne Mini-Express routes:

The Chocolate Express runs every 30 minutes from early January to late November. You can take your child on this route through the Old Town to the German Sports & Olympic Museum and one of Cologne's most popular cultural institutions, the Chocolate Museum. The Mini-Express stops at Cologne Cathedral, near the Malakoff Tower and at one of the local visitor centres, KölnTourismus.

The Zoo Express also runs every 30 minutes, but its opening hours differ from those of the Chocolate Express: from mid-March to mid-November. The Cologne Zoo Express travels to the Cologne Zoo and departs from the Promenade des Rhine.

Stops on this mini-train include Cologne Cathedral, the Cologne cable car and the Flora Botanical Gardens. The return journey on the Zoo Express takes you through the old town, where there is plenty to see for both children and adults.

Another interesting route is the 'Christmas Express', which runs around the city at certain times of the year before the main winter holidays. If you find yourself in Cologne during the pre-Christmas period, take the mini-train on the special festive route.

This express train will take you to the city's largest and most beautiful Christmas market. Just imagine what an experience awaits you and your child!

The streets of Cologne are festively decorated and lit, Santa Claus walks the streets and sidewalks, and the locals smile at each other in anticipation of the most important winter festivities. The Bimmelbahn mini-train takes you to all four of Cologne's Christmas markets.

The Cologne Express trains can also be hired for private use. If you're a large, fun-loving group and want to travel through the streets of Cologne in a tightly-knit circle, hire one of the trains for a specific time. Then take the train wherever you want to go. Each Mini Express can accommodate up to 50 people, so don't worry about your friends and family — there's room for everyone!
