There is nothing better for a child of any age than spending time outdoors. Especially in summer and on the water. If you don't want to deprive your favourite child of the opportunity to burn off excess energy, visit the Wasserwelt Wedau sports centre near Düsseldorf. It covers around 200 hectares, of which around 60 are water. This open-air leisure centre is currently one of the largest and most interesting in Germany.
The highlight of the sports centre is the 2,150 metre long rowing course. International sporting events are often held here, including canoe polo and rowing competitions. Around the parallel canal there is an excellent water playground, a climbing garden and adventure and hands-on trails for the whole family.
While rowing, canoeing and boating are taking place on the parallel canal, children can visit the water playground with its large wooden play ship. Then they can splash and play. In between, children can relax on the hanging swings and then head for the slide tower or the sand playground.
But it's not just the opportunity to paddle that attracts tens of thousands of tourists and locals. The Wedau Water World is a well-kept green area where even the youngest children can take a walk and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings and picturesque panoramas. Centuries-old trees growing along the water's edge, vast stretches of unspoilt shoreline, all invite you to spend hours strolling and relaxing.
The Wedau Water World is ideal for families. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Every day the leisure centre is full of active people of all ages who want to have fun and enjoy themselves.
