What to do when you come to Hamburg with children in the cold season? The outdoor playground is a pleasant place for children to have fun. But what about severely cold parents on the benches? If you're looking for something fun for the whole family, look no further than Arriba, a water park on the outskirts of Hamburg.
It's not just any water park, it's a whole universe of fun and adventure. There are 6 slides of different shapes and heights, with a total length of around 370 metres, and a huge wave that circles the pool every hour. During the summer (from June to August) there is an outdoor area with games and sports pools, green lawns and colourful children's houses.

Water park entertainment
You won't get bored in the pools with slides. What surprises await guests at the ARRIBA water park?
- An abundance of water jets.
- A lazy river with a gentle current where you can float peacefully.
- A giant fountain mushroom with dripping water.
- A waterfall with a steep slide and ladders.
- Sound effects (birds singing, animals roaring).
- Bubbling underwater massage jets.
- Slide show (i.e. no slides at all in the audience, but an extreme slide accompanied by various entertainment programmes).
The water park has a wild and fairytale atmosphere. There are tables around the pool where parents usually sit to watch their children frolic in the water. Food, sweets and drinks can be ordered here. There is also a heated outdoor pool.
Arriba also offers a 30-minute entertainment programme for children's birthdays. Every Sunday is ShowTime, entertainment for the whole family, organised and held from October to May.
Planetarium Hamburg is only 13 km away. We recommend it for a visit as well.
A mini island for little aborigine
Arriba Water Park invites the youngest children and even babies to join their parents in a spacious mini-zone designed especially for babies. The walls are decorated with themed paintings and the underwater scenery is full of dolphins and shells. This is the best place for a child's first outdoor swimming experience.
The water temperature in the children's pool is kept at +33°C. It has a mini slide and a shallow play area. In the middle of the pool is the popular merry-go-round. Nearby, there is another water area where the little ones can have their first swimming lessons instead of playing.
Sun loungers have been installed throughout the area. The water park management has provided direct access to a sanitary hygiene area with a changing table and a playpen. Babies must be in nappies and special swimsuits when visiting the leisure centre.
Sport area
The 25-metre sports pool with 6 lanes is particularly noteworthy. It has a water temperature of +27.5°C, ideal for intensive swimming.
In the sports area of the Arriba water park, the Acapulco extreme entertainment complex invites adventurous swimmers to try out the 3.80 metre deep pool at a temperature of around +26°C. Those who want to can perform daring somersaults and have fun jumping from 1 and 3 metre towers.
Another interesting and unusual attraction is the Aqua Jump Party with its high diving wall. Yes, that's right, it's a diving wall, not a climbing wall. It turns out that you can learn to climb in the water — it's fun and safe.
Recreation for adults
The spa area and thermal baths are an invitation to all those who appreciate quality therapeutic services and first-class service. Swirling underwater layers, powerful waterfalls and water jets massage the skin and body, revitalising and rejuvenating.
The Jacuzzi seats 8 people — enough to keep you entertained and revitalised in good company. The outdoor salt pool is open all year round and you can enjoy the exquisite freshness of its +29°C water. The spa area also offers sunbeds, massage tables and chairs, and infrared cabins.
If you are coming to Arriba Waterpark in Norderstedt on a weekend in the summer, you can leave your car at Schleswig-Holstein Strasse, where there are 280 parking spaces. From there it is only a 5-minute walk along a small forest path to the water park.
On-site parking for up to 400 cars is free all year round. There is a separate car park for electric vehicles where you can recharge your batteries on the spot. It is equipped with one of the largest photovoltaic systems in the country. The mini-heating plant uses the heat generated during electricity generation not only to charge electric cars, but also to heat water and provide a comfortable room temperature.
