If your child is a big fan of dinosaurs and all things related to dinosaur, then take them to Münchhagen Dinosaur Park, just outside the town of Rehburg-Loccum. We recommend this trip for those staying in Bremen, Hamburg, Hanover or nearby.
Münchehagen Park is a real open-air museum. It is the largest science and entertainment centre of its kind for children and adults. Here your child can learn how life on earth began, which animals lived on the planet several hundred thousand years ago, see prehistoric creatures in their original size and understand what such an interesting and mysterious evolution is all about.
There are 120 models of dinosaurs in the Dinosaur Park, which are very realistic. The site chosen for the open-air museum is symbolic of the fact that it was once home to entire populations of all kinds of ancient lizards. These huge prehistoric animals have left traces of their vital activity in their almost completely preserved skeletons. Today, the lizards at Dinopark 'live' in their own geological era, just as they did when they lived in the region.
Visitors to Münchehagen Dinosaur Park will not only see all the known species of dinosaurs (Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus), but also some very rare ones. For example, Dinopark has one of the largest models of the ancient lizards that once roamed the earth. The giant Seismosaurus, 9 metres high and 45 metres long, will leave a lasting impression.
Serengeti Park, another equally exciting place for a vacation with children, is 86 km away
There is a mammoth of impressive proportions, with large tusks covered in wool, and figures of primitive people who built their simple dwellings from mammoth tusks. There are also 250 fossilised footprints of ancient lizards, which give an idea of the true size of the animals.
It is important to note that all the dinosaurs are reproduced according to the latest findings of a large number of internationally renowned scientists. The exhibitions at Münchehagen are therefore constantly being expanded and updated.
You can walk among the dinosaur figures and enter the museum buildings. Exhibits found in the area are displayed there, as well as interesting videos on the subject.
This great natural attraction has a children's playground where the youngest visitors can let off steam. Swings, slides, merry-go-rounds and sandpits — your little ones will have hours of fun with their peers. Special dino carts are available at the park entrance for parents to take their young explorers for a spin.
