Montjuïc Park is a place in Barcelona where you can enjoy nature without leaving the city. When all the museums have been visited, photographs of the “Spanish Village” have been taken, all the food taken for a picnic has been eaten, and evening falls on Barcelona, many tend to get to the square in front of the National Palace.
At nightfall, music sounds, awakening multi-coloured jets of water to life. Magic fountains in the square is not in vain called magical — La font Màgica: a real miracle seems to be a dance that water and light perform to beautiful music.
The musical selection is diverse: classical and Spanish folk music, modern super hits, children's songs, and movie soundtracks. One of the best performances of the fountain is accompanied by the composition "Barcelona", performed by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe. The duration of the show is 10-15 minutes. But even after the performance ends, the audience remains spellbound for a long time.
The Magic Fountain in Barcelona on Montjuic was built in 1929. At that time, the dance of the jets was emphasized only by artistic lighting. Musical accompaniment was added in the 80s. Interestingly, almost all communications and the fountain control system have remained unchanged since construction. Jets of the purest water (so pure that you can drink it) can rise to a height of 50 meters, but they can also crumble into sprays, intertwine into bundles, and turn into the foam — in a word, perform original dance movements.
We recommend that you sit at the magical fountain of Montjuic early. A panoramic platform in front of the National Palace is a perfect place from where you can see both the Magic Fountain and Barcelona in the evening.
