When planning a vacation with a child in Spain, parents usually try to find an amusement park near their place of residence — fortunately, there are many of them in the country. However, famous large parks have their drawbacks: many visitors and high ticket prices. But among the amusement parks of Costa Blanca, there is a small and inexpensive Pola Park for a fun holiday with kids. It is located 20 km from Alicante, near the city of Elche.
There are about 30 rides on an area of 24,000 square metres. There are all the classics of the genre: a roller coaster (called a Russian coaster in Spain), an autodrome, a funny train, several different merry-go-rounds for kids, a swing in the shape of a pirate ship, a children's Ferris wheel, lots of trampolines, a long slide with jumps, a laughing room and a panic room and a game maze.
Most of these attractions are aimed at preschool and primary school children. The list doesn't seem like much, but in the maze alone, children can find lots of activities, from diving into a soft play ball pit to shooting air cannons.
Of the modern attractions, Paula Park in Santa Pola offers a "Free Fall", go-kart races, ATV rides, catamaran swims and a game of mini golf. Note that the go-karts, quad bikes and electric cars are suitable for a family ride or for a child to handle independently. For added fun, you can ride on the monorail that runs above the park and play games such as "Fun Fishing" or "Basketball".
The ticket price includes unlimited use of all Pola Park attractions. For free, you can take your picture with Popi, the park's mascot. There are several fast food restaurants and a picnic area. Since the amusement park in Santa Pola is only open in the afternoon, the morning hours can be devoted to a trip to the Rio Safari Elche Zoo, a few kilometres away from Pola Park.
