Do you know how to get to the top family entertainment destination in the Costa Brava? You need to turn your back to the sea and head to the Aqua Brava water park near Roses's resort town. It only takes a few facts to make you want to go there.
Here are the statistics: a 6,000 sqm artificial wave pool (one of the biggest in Europe), 13 slides of all stripes, five super-extreme slides, two big kiddie play pools and an 11-hectare park area. Now it's time to get to know the details.
Aqua Brava's main attraction for families with toddlers is the small pools, Children's Lagoon and Tropical Island. Should you choose to play on a pirate ship or a fortified fort? It's best to go to both: go down the merry little slides, navigate the children's "Lazy River", and occupy a place in the pool where a giant bucket pours water on everyone in time.
The Aquaroc ride can enthral children over 1.20m who can swim well. A large rock above the pool is accessible to all comers. The wet, smooth, almost vertical boulders are challenging to hold on to, and daredevils jump into the water, much to their delight. Tired of conquering nature, you can surrender to it and submit to the slow-flowing Rio Tranquilo. The water park also has two secluded hot-water pools — for total relaxation.
For the more adventurous, there are some crazy slides. The water park in Costa Brava has eight slides for the ordinary daredevil and five slides for the extra adventurer. 6 of the 8 family-friendly slides are named after rivers.
Do you prefer the Danube, the Amazon, the Rio Grande, the Mississippi, the Colorado or the Rio Bravo? You can compete in the Octospeed downhill slides (the scoreboard shows the results). The Anaconda slide is the longest and windiest of the slides, with a length of 200 metres. A large toboggan allows four people to go down it. Extreme slides include "Kamikaze" and "Bullet" with a nearly vertical chute, the U-shaped Cobra ramp and two tunnels (the 17 m long White Hole and the 125 m long Black Hole).
After all the adventures, you can relax on the beach by the pools or in the shade of the park's trees. Children can have fun on the Labyrinth playground with trampolines. The water park has several restaurants, cafés, and a drinks kiosk.
It is advisable to bring your towels, as you will otherwise have to buy them at a local shop.
