Everyone who comes to rest in Salou with children on the way to the beach looks at a series of fountains on the city promenade. They are beautiful during the day, but they become fabulous only in the evening. At nightfall, Salou's waterfront turns into an auditorium for hundreds of tourists who come to watch the dancing fountains. Light and music laser show delights children no less than adults.
One of the fountains in Salou was designed by Carlos Buigas, whose famous works include the Magic Fountain on the hill of Montjuic in Barcelona. There are three places on the embankment where you can see the dance of water. Performances are held at different times so you can see all three in one evening.
The show Fuentes Cibernéticas, or the show of the Cybernetic Fountains, is considered the most colourful. A dance ensemble consisting of water jets performs under a potpourri of famous classical and modern pieces. Art lighting, laser paintings and other special effects turn the 15-minute performance into a magical one. During the day, you can return and walk along a small bridge to the centre of the reservoir to get acquainted with the trickle artists.
The Dancing Fountain of Salou show has its charm. Fuente Luminosa, or 'Fountain of Light', has 210 variations of water pas synchronised with music and colour. The water changes outfits from pale lunar to fiery red, reinforcing the mood inspired by the music. This place is sometimes called the fountain of emotion for a reason.
The Fuente Laberinto fountain show is the earliest and longest-running. The secret of the "Labyrinth" is not the music and the lights, but the game the water makes with all comers. The fountain consists of five concentric circles running alternately. You can try to run to the centre circle and get back, taking advantage of the breaks in the fountain's operation. Not everyone gets dry, but no one thinks of getting upset. Children especially love this place.
