The Costa Dorada is not deprived of greenery, but you quickly stop noticing the lush vegetation as part of the background. To remember the beauty of nature again, we suggest going to Parc Samà, which is 6 km from the city of Cambrils. A cosy garden has been created on about 14 hectares, with hundreds of exotic flowers, shrubs and trees growing. The hours spent here will decorate a trip with a child to Spain.
The Botanical Garden of Sama in the Costa Dorada appeared in 1881 thanks to the efforts of Marquis Salvador Sama. The manor of the Marquis previously housed a small private zoo. Now there are no animals in the garden, but the buildings of those times fit well into the landscape. True, tame peacocks roam the well-groomed lawns, expecting tasty offerings from visitors, and imperturbable turtles swim in the lake.
The creator of Parc Samà in Cambrils lived in Cuba for a long time, so he decided to recreate the beauty of this island on Spanish land. The park's layout was entrusted to the famous architect José Mestre, who also worked on creating the Ciutadella Park in Barcelona. Therefore, a walk along Parc Samà is a continuous admiration for beauty and comfort. It is impossible not to catch your eye on the vine-covered mansion of Salvador Sama, the fountain of giant mollusc shells, the high observation tower of Torre Angulo and plane trees and cypress trees competing with it in height.
Visiting Parc Samà in Costa Dorada usually takes two to three hours. But you can sit for as long as you like on comfortable benches in the openwork shade of pine trees or feed the fish, standing on the bridge over the lake. The main advantage of this place is silence, although, in July-August, the park is filled with sounds of music: the Cambril International Music Festival is held here.
