Enjoying nature, animals and well-groomed territory — all this and much more await you in Loro Parque. This fabulous place is full of great discoveries; your kid will love every element and even the smallest bird. If your holiday with a child in Spain occurs in Tenerife, then Loro Parque is a must-see!
The territory of Loro Park and its inhabitants
At the entrance, as you walk through the beautiful Thai-style gate, you'll be greeted by a statue of a large brass parrot, the main symbol of this nature park. The bright bird was chosen as the mascot for nothing, as Loro Parque has the most extensive collection of parrots worldwide! There are about 500 species here, some listed as endangered in the Red Book. It is not for nothing that Loro Parque has been unofficially called Parrot Paradise ever since it opened.
The local parrot show is one of the park's highlights. The fascinating show features 20 brightly coloured birds that show off everything their trainers have taught them.
As you enter the park, you will immediately be asked to take a photo with the colourful parrots as a souvenir. When you leave the park, you can pick up your photo. But it's your choice whether to buy it or not.
The area is majestic: Loro Parque Tenerife covers 135 thousand square meters, which could easily fit as many as 12 football fields! Instead, there are bat caves, animal houses, a dolphinarium, a pond, an island with live tigers, and other places like gift shops, cafes and restaurants. In all, there are about 400 species of animals in the park.
At the entrance to Loro Parque, remember to take a free booklet with its plan and schedule of performances — it will help you not to get lost and correctly lay out the route for visiting the sections. Almost at the very entrance to the park, there is a pond in which Japanese koi are bred. There are so many of them here that when visitors throw food at them, the water seethes from the fish that have come down on prey. Be sure to take the right food and feed these greedy fish. You will be utterly delighted with their appetite!
Further, your path with your child will pass through a giant aquarium where visitors move along a glass tunnel. Stingrays, sharks, and about 15 thousand different fish will appear before your eyes. There are underwater inhabitants from almost all corners of the world. The aquarium is impressive and striking in its scale, but most of all, park guests like the effect of complete immersion in the aquatic environment. Some visitors even shiver fearfully when some giant toothy shark swims up to them at close range.
Animal shows
Animal shows are another exciting entertainment at the Tenerife Zoo. There are four shows to choose from every day:
• with seals;
• with killer whales;
• with dolphins;
• with parrots.
You'll undoubtedly enjoy all the shows, as the local penguinarium, for example, is one of the largest of its kind in the world. For the big bumbling birds, the atmosphere is recreated in an almost native Antarctic environment. In addition, the penguins are fed fresh fish in sufficient quantities every day.
A sea lion show is another popular attraction at Tenerife's Loro Parque. There are 1,000,000 litres of seawater in the water area where performances with these large marine mammals occur. It is one of the most enormous and most grandiose shows in Europe. We also recommend that you don't miss the exciting presentation of the killer whales, which perform many interesting and challenging numbers with their handlers.
Services
Loro Park is designed so that everyone can comfortably enjoy all the areas and activities in the park. You can pay in cash or by card at all shops in the park. Free Wi-Fi and wheelchair and pram rental are available. There are marked and designated smoking areas in the park and several picnic and rest areas along the park's paths. If you lose any belongings, you can contact the public relations department.
For the younger visitors, there is a large jungle-style play area called Kinderlandia. The adrenaline of traversing suspension bridges and the thrill of exploring the inside of a tree are combined with the chance to ride on the Orca Train. Meanwhile, adults can relax and have a coffee while keeping an eye on the little explorers. If you enjoy Kinderland, remember that you can celebrate a birthday here.
Tourist train in Loro Parque
The very beginning of a trip to the park will be a real adventure for your child because you can get here by express train. The train route starts from Plaza de los Reyes Catolicos (near the McDonald's restaurant) daily with an interval of 20 minutes from 9.30-17.30 and carries passengers through the entire city. Why not an exciting journey?
A nice bonus: you don’t have to pay for the trip, as the transfer is already included in the entrance ticket price.
While vacationing in Tenerife, plan a trip to Loro Parque with children: you will discover the world of unique birds and sea animals, some of which your child has never seen.
