Accommodation
Camp Ramah offers a variety of lodging options to meet different comfort and travel-styles. There are hotel-style rooms (66 double-occupancy) with private baths, air conditioning and heating — ideal for campers or staff who prefer more “standard” lodging. There are also 16 bunk-bed cabins (totaling about 320 beds) for a more traditional camp-feel, as well as 33 large tents with roughly 456 beds for those who like a slightly more rustic experience.
All units sit on a campus that supports a full range of facilities and communal living — cabins and tents help build a strong peer community in living quarters, while the hotel-style option offers extra comfort. This flexibility can accommodate individual camper needs and preferences.
Meals
Camp Ramah in California serves fully kosher meals under Conservative Jewish supervision. All food is prepared with high standards of cleanliness and care, and the kitchen accommodates special diets including vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free needs. Meals are served family-style in the dining hall, encouraging campers to socialize and build friendships across groups. Daily snacks such as fruit, popcorn, or cheese are available, and the camp community is completely nut-free. Staff work closely with families before camp begins to ensure any dietary restrictions are respected and that every camper can enjoy balanced, nutritious, and delicious meals in a friendly communal setting.
Safety
Safety is a central priority at Camp Ramah in California. All activity areas are supervised by certified staff, including lifeguards for swimming and specialists for adventure programs. Each cabin group has multiple counselors providing 24-hour supervision, and every age division has adult leaders overseeing camper welfare. The camp maintains clear routines, curfews, and check-in systems so campers can enjoy freedom within a safe structure. Electronics and outside distractions are limited to keep campers present, engaged, and connected with peers. Homesickness is handled with empathy and experience, and counselors are trained to identify and support any emotional or behavioral needs quickly and effectively.
Health & Medicine
The camp operates a fully equipped health center staffed by licensed nurses and medical professionals, with a physician on call at all times. Families submit detailed health forms and vaccination records before arrival, ensuring that the staff can respond appropriately to individual needs. All medications are stored and administered through the health center, not in cabins, and parents are notified if a camper requires overnight care or additional treatment. The health team manages everything from routine first aid to coordination with local clinics if outside care is needed. Confidentiality and camper dignity are prioritized, and campers receive attentive, compassionate support to stay healthy throughout their stay.
