Forsyth Humane Society Summer Camp: Compassion in Action For over 72 years, the Forsyth Humane Society has been a beacon of compassion for animals in the Winston-Salem community. Located at 61 Miller Street, this camp offers children a unique opportunity to learn about the care and humane treatment of feline and canine friends while fostering a love for animals. Campers will explore the history and mission of the Forsyth Humane Society, which began thanks to the generosity of D.D. and Lydia Schouler, whose beloved dog once brought lunch to Mr. Schouler every day. This touching story of loyalty inspired Mrs. Schouler to establish a fund dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals, which continues to impact the community today. At this camp, children will engage in hands-on activities that teach them how to care for animals, understand their needs, and promote responsible pet ownership. Through fun and educational programs, campers will develop empathy, learn about animal welfare, and even get involved in helping shelter animals find loving homes. If your child has a passion for animals and wants to make a difference, the Forsyth Humane Society Summer Camp is the perfect place for them to grow their compassion while having fun!
