Kurabu is a Japanese summer day camp for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade. It welcomes students currently in a Japanese immersion program or those who speak Japanese at home. The camp is designed to provide a bilingual experience that is both fun and enriching, while reinforcing Japanese language skills. Kurabu serves both Japanese and non-Japanese children from the Portland Metro Region. Staff and volunteers include bilingual speakers, native speakers, and educators from local and Japanese schools and universities. Each week, Japanese Dual Language Immersion Program interns take the lead as teachers, guiding campers in their learning. Campers can expect a schedule filled with activities such as cooking, art, music, and Japanese language practice. Every week ends with a special celebration for students and families, showcasing what campers have learned and created.
