Overview
Maranatha Day and Overnight Camps, located on the serene shores of Lake Guntersville in Scottsboro, Alabama, offer a spiritually enriching and adventure-filled summer experience for children and teens. Celebrating 50 years of summer camp ministry, Maranatha provides a space where young people can grow in their faith, build friendships, and enjoy the beauty of creation.
Two Ways to Camp
Maranatha offers both Day Camp and Residential Camp options, making it accessible for families with varying needs:
Day Camps: Running for nine weeks from June 1 to July 24, day camps are perfect for youth who have completed grades 1 through 8. These camps operate Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., allowing campers to participate in all the activities of overnight camps while returning home each evening. Convenient bus transportation from Huntsville adds to the appeal.
Residential Camps: These week-long sleepaway camps provide a more immersive experience. Age-based programs ensure that campers enjoy activities tailored to their developmental stage. For thrill-seekers, some weeks include an “Adventure Path” featuring paintball and ropes courses.
Activities That Inspire and Excite
At Maranatha, fun and faith go hand in hand. Campers can look forward to a wide range of activities that foster teamwork, confidence, and joy:
Outdoor Adventures: Canoeing on the lake, swimming in the pool, hiking scenic trails, and engaging in sports like basketball and volleyball.
Adventure Challenges: High ropes courses and paintball for those seeking an adrenaline rush.
Faith-Based Activities: Daily worship sessions, Bible studies, and reflective moments create a spiritually rich environment.
These activities are designed to encourage personal growth while providing unforgettable memories.
A Legacy of Faith
Since its founding in 1954, Maranatha has been a place where lives are transformed. The camp’s mission is deeply rooted in providing young people with opportunities to grow spiritually among peers in a supportive Christian community. Every aspect of the program is centered around creating space for God to work in the lives of campers.
