Overview
Welcome to a day in the sun-filled, laughter-inducing world of New Country Day Camp, where childhood joys blend seamlessly with skill-building and genuine camaraderie. This precious gem, tucked away on the lush grounds of the 75-acre Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds on Staten Island, is where New York City youngsters find respite from the urban hustle and connect with Mother Nature.
Acting as a summer oasis, the camp is a hodgepodge of energizing activities nestled amidst swimming pools, hiking trails, and open meadows, a mere 45-minute ride from Manhattan and Brooklyn. Campers tap into the thrill of paddle boating, immerse themselves in the world of sports, unleash their imagination through arts and crafts, and open their eyes to the planet’s wonders under the careful guidance of an outstanding camp staff.
Novice camp-goers beginning their schooling journey enjoy a well-organized, intimate set-up in the Newcomer Unit, ensuring a nurturing introduction to all camp activities. Meanwhile, older kids get a shot at shaping their own summer experience, selecting from a tantalizing line-up that includes, but isn’t limited to, team sports, theater workshops, martial arts, gymnastics, pioneering, camping, and cooking.
Yet, fun and games are just part of the story here. Traditional Jewish values weave through the fabric of daily camp life, subtly imparting valuable lessons. Fridays, with a celebratory challah baking ritual and a festive Shabbat celebration, take on a particular charm, with a series of encounters with renowned Jewish Heroes slated for this summer. New Country Day Camp, indeed, offers an enriching, well-rounded summer experience that balances play, personal growth, and cultural values, all in an idyllic, safe environment. Embrace the magic!
