United States, Spokane

Overview

As the curtain rises on a new season of the Spokane Valley Summer Theatre Conservatory, the anticipation in the air is palpable. Since its grand debut in 2016, this prestigious arena of vibrant creativity and talent has been captivating young theater enthusiasts across the Northwest. Commandeered by Yvonne A.K. Johnson, the critically acclaimed Executive Artistic Director, this theatrical hotspot has honed the skills of over a thousand aspiring artists so far. Every summer, a friendly legion of trained and experienced staff, including professional theater practitioners, SVST veterans, or theater-major college students, welcome hundreds of aspiring thespians. The conservatory offers a potpourri of programs designed to cater to a range of interests and skill sets. Younger students from grades 2 to 7 can immerse themselves in themed "Play-in-a-Week" camps. Older pupils, from grades 7 to 12, can explore specialized week-long courses, and the most devoted even have access to exclusive workshops and masterclasses. The Spokane Valley Summer Theatre Conservatory is not just a stage - it’s a lively, pulsating hub of imagination, camaraderie and self-discovery. It acknowledges and nourishes the flair and passion for live performances thriving among the youth of the Inland Northwest and provides them with a grand stage, lit by the brightest lights to tell the biggest stories. The verdict is unanimous - the SVST Conservatory is more than a summer camp; it's a stellar launchpad for young performers, catapulting them from their first steps on stage into the magical world of theater.
