Overview

The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program opens its doors to students of all ages and abilities—children (ages 5-13), teens (ages 14-17), and adults (18+)—inviting each to embark on a rich and immersive artistic journey. For younger participants, nurturing, small-group workshops foster exploration and self-expression, combining performance and visual arts in a supportive environment. Teen programs offer more intensive workshops and sleep-away options, designed to build confidence, technique and creative identity. Adults join immersive workshops taught by professional artist-faculty who provide rigorous instruction alongside relaxed artistic camaraderie.

\Across all age groups, the curriculum encompasses eight major arts disciplines—Visual Arts, Native American Arts, Fashion Design, Music, Dramatic Arts, Film & Digital Media, Dance, and Creative Writing—allowing students to hone craft in their chosen field. Located at an elevation of over 5,000 feet in the mountains of Southern California, the campus is two miles from town and surrounded by towering forests, tranquil meadows and panoramic vistas — perfect for artistic inspiration.

The remote yet accessible setting offers an escape from urban distractions while still being a reasonable drive from major airports in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Palm Springs. With dedicated teaching, small class sizes, and a community of fellow artists, the program emphasizes individual growth, creative exploration and lifelong friendships. Whether you arrive as a beginner or a more experienced artist, you’ll leave with new skills, renewed passion and a deeper sense of your creative voice.
