Join the UNC Asheville Pre-College Program for an immersive week of music composition and songwriting, designed for high school students eager to explore their creative and performing skills. This program, running from June 23 to June 28, 2024, offers a unique opportunity to develop original music both individually and collaboratively in a supportive and inspiring environment. A Creative Musical Journey Throughout the week, students will engage in a variety of exercises that focus on composition, songwriting, and improvisation. Participants will have the chance to perform original and improvised music on their chosen instruments or voice, culminating in a final performance of a new, original musical work. Program Highlights Creative Process: Explore the fundamentals of music creation through guided workshops. Collaboration: Work with fellow students to compose and perform collaborative pieces. Musical Performance: Gain confidence in performing original compositions in front of peers. Creative Placemaking: Participate in discussions about the role of music in society and community. Daily Schedule Morning: Begin with breakfast followed by collaborative songwriting workshops. Afternoon: Engage in performance sessions to showcase your musical creations. Evening: Enjoy recreational activities such as beach volleyball, attending an Asheville Tourists game, or participating in game nights and movie screenings. Program Details Cost: $1,580, which includes lodging, meals, all course materials, activities, and excursions. Eligibility: Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Accommodation: Students reside in campus residence halls and dine in campus dining facilities. Registration: A $500 deposit is required upon registration, with the remaining balance due by May 1, 2024. Enrollment is open until spaces are filled. Under the guidance of experienced instructors like Emily Mariko Eng, participants will stretch their creative muscles and develop valuable skills that will enhance their musical journey.   • The trip to the children's camp is paid directly to the organizer of the camp.

  • You can ask for any permits that regulate the work of the camp as well as documents confirming the payment of the package from the organizer of the camp after making the registration or the payment.
