Overview
Despite our recommendation in the main article on Ski Circus to look for hotels directly in the centre of Hinterglemm and Saalbach, we can safely make an exception to the rule and recommend this 4-star hotel for holidays with children.
The centre of Hinterglemm and Saalbach is about 1 km away, but this does not affect skiing comfort skiing at all, as the hotel's own shuttle service runs to and from the Schattberg Express station in the mornings and afternoons. In the evening, on the other hand, if you want to get into the centre of the resort, you will have to call a taxi.
The resort is a little off the main road, so you're assured of clean air and no traffic jams. The hotel is very much geared towards holidays with children, as proof of that is the spacious and clean rooms, well-equipped playroom with toys, educational structures, a slide and climbing wall. There is also a mini club on site in winter and summer, where children can have fun under the supervision of experienced baby sitters. Board games are available for older children.
The rooms are in a modern or traditional Alpine style and feature a flat-screen satellite TV, a seating area, and a bathroom. In summer, there is a large playground with a trampoline, swings and slides. In the evening the family can have a great time in the spa-area: swim in the indoor pool, take a steam bath in the sauna, work out in the fitness room or have a massage.
Meals in Die Sonne are of high quality. There is a separate menu for children up to 14 years of age. Weekly events such as dances, music evenings, sporting activities, excursions and hikes are organised for hotel guests.
