The Red Devil Ski School is probably one of the best known and most experienced ski schools in Kitzbühel. No wonder, as it is based on the region's first ski school, which opened in 1926. For many years, one of the main instructors at the Red Devils (as the school is known) was the legendary Toni Sailer, a three-time Olympic gold medallist and seven-time world champion. Although Toni passed away in 2009, his unique teaching methods and the skills of the instructors are still the hallmark of the school.
Rote Teufel employs around 250 teachers. Group lessons are held in German and English, and individual lessons in other world languages. Children's groups are open to kids from the age of 3. The first lessons take place in a special area of the Kinderland, equipped with a conveyor belt for the youngest pupils, various play and learning structures and safe facilities. A colourful steam train runs from the group meeting point to the lifts where the lessons take place. When the groups learn how to skate, they take to the slopes in front of the "nursery".
At lunchtime, the children, accompanied by their instructors, have lunch in a special children's restaurant. Parents taking their children to school for the first time and feeling anxious can skate on the nearby Streif downhill, overlooking the children's area, and come to their child at the first call. Experience has shown that the absence of parents during training is beneficial, and the children are immersed in the process for a while, forgetting that mum and dad are there.
Every week the school organises a variety of recreational and sporting activities, including classic skiing and fun competitions, where all participants and winners are awarded certificates and medals.
