Every more or less large spa town or village in Germany has its own swimming pool. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is no exception. The Alpspitz Wellenbad is a great alternative for an evening out or after a day of active skiing. It is located in the centre of the resort, halfway between the railway station and the lifts in the Hausberg ski area.
Even if you get lost in the area and cannot immediately find the pool, everyone in Garmisch will be happy to point you in the right direction, as the water park is very popular with tourists and locals alike.
The rides and pools cover an area of 2,200 square metres. The Alpspitz Wave Pool consists of two pools, one 21m wide and the other 50m long. The latter activates the wave mode once an hour. There is also a diving platform and a heated outdoor whirlpool.
The Garmisch Olympia Ice Sport Stadium is only 300 meters away from the swimming pool
The little ones are not forgotten either. The children's area includes a shallow 'mother and child' pool, a pool for swimming lessons and a playground. There is a 96 metre water slide and a 9 metre speed slide for older children. On the roof there is a fairly large sauna area with various types of sauna and steam rooms, as well as a wellness centre.
