Tourists with children vacationing in Alicante, as well as in any other city in this province, are happy people. After all, they can see with their own eyes and show their young travellers a real natural landmark, which is one of the undoubted pearls of the region.
We are talking about the Canelobre cave in the small town of Busot, 24 kilometres from Alicante. The attraction is one of the largest in Spain, open today for visiting by tourists. And this is not surprising because the height of the Canelobre cave is more than 70 m.
This cave is unique: its age is about 7 million years! The natural monument is so attractive to tourists with children who come to the region from all over the world because of its venerable years. Therefore, if you want to see all the grandiosity and extraordinariness of the Canelobre cave in Alicante with your own eyes, we recommend that you do not delay this fascinating excursion.
Your adventure will begin at the stage of the walk to the cave itself. There is a small footpath about 1 km long that leads to it. It stretches along the most beautiful places, the landscapes that will give you and your child great pleasure. Thanks to the intervention of the rebels during the civil war in the last century, another entrance appeared in the cave, which became the second after the natural one. It is very humid inside the bowels, and even on the hottest days, the temperature here does not rise above +18 degrees Celsius.
The forms of the interior decoration of the cave are unique. For centuries, nature has managed to draw images and engravings on its walls reminiscent of scenes from different periods. One hall looks like a palace, and the other, with its centuries-old stalactites and stalagmites, resembles an exhibition of sculptures by a famous marble master; in the third, there is so much mystery and understatement that a chill runs down your spine.
By the way, in translation from the Valencian language, the cave's name is "Candelabra", that is, candlesticks. And there is an explanation for this. Please look at the stone streaks formed over the centuries: they look like giant candles, the wax of which, flowing down, formed bizarre, fantastic shapes and formations.
Like many caves in Spain, Canelobre has excellent acoustics. The local authorities considered this and created a small stage on its upper platform. Today, famous artists of our time give concerts here: here you can hear the music of any genre.
