Spain is a hospitable southern country with ample opportunities for family holidays. All resort regions are good in their own way. Still, today we want to focus on the province of Alicante, specifically the city of Benidorm, where a good selection of entertainment for children and adults is presented.
So, here you can visit the large and attractive Terra Mitica Amusement Park with your child and find yourself in a world of exciting adventures. This park is rightfully one of the visiting cards of Benidorm and the entire Costa Blanca. The world of boundless joy, adrenaline and fun is located in an area of 100 hectares, and the name of the amusement park Terra Mitica translates as "Land of Myths", so if you are looking for adventure in the spirit of the past, welcome!
The amusement park was opened in 2000. It consists of several entertainment zones on its territory at once, allocated by the geography of myths and located around an artificial lake symbolizing the Mediterranean Sea. To be precise, there are 5 of them:
• Rome;
• Egypt;
• Greece;
• Iberia;
• Islands.
In the middle of the lake is the Islands area, whose rides maximise the spirit of the times of the great traveller and hero Odysseus.
The most interesting extreme rides that can be found in this park are: "Flight of the Phoenix", "Minotaur's Labyrinth" (a special train that goes through a tunnel in which passengers have to fight monsters using laser weapons), the water ride "The Fury of Triton" (a water slide 500 metres long with two descents 10 and 20 metres high), The swinging boat Vertigum, the Lost Temple ride, Titanide (an upside-down roller coaster with seats that spin 360 degrees and trains that travel at up to 100 km/hour! )
There are also plenty of activities for the little ones, including a children's race track, a Rotundus Ferris wheel with bird-shaped cabins, a children's version of the Flying Phoenix, a swan-shaped carousel boat and many other swings and slides.
Take your child on a mini journey back in time at each themed area, as each area is decorated in the style of the backstreets of ancient lands. It's a lot of fun!
It is important to note that each thematic area of Terra Mitica Benidorm regularly hosts shows that convey the specifics of each of the historical zones of the park. You can find out the schedule of performances from a special brochure, which is handed to each visitor at the entrance.
Each zone is interesting in its own way: rides for children of all ages are equipped everywhere (for some, there is a height limit — of 140 cm), a cafe where you can have a bite to eat, well-maintained recreation areas.
Special mention should be made of the daily performances at Terra Mítica in Benidorm. The repertoire of performances is impressive, with around 35 different shows on offer, all of which are fun, colourful and very interesting. Some shows are fun, while others encourage children and adults to think and learn a lot about the history of the thematic area in which they are staged.
Or would you rather see a Roman gladiatorial battle or people living in seaside villages many centuries ago? Then be sure to visit one of the performances in the park!
