When planning a holiday in Spain with a child, don't forget to cultivate your child's cultural development. Visiting museums, for example, is a must during the holidays.
The resort town of Lloret de Mar has several interesting places to visit with a family. The Maritime Museum is one of them. It is housed in the former Garrigues' home and is one of the area's most popular and frequently visited museums. Why? — You might ask.
It's simple: the Can Garriga maritime museum in Lloret de Mar is unique. Its exhibits are items and objects of nautical themes from different eras. And they are all so varied and exciting that until you get around all the museum halls, there's no way you can stop!
The museum exhibition consists of five different zones:
- "The Mediterranean Sea";
- "Sons of the Sea";
- "At the door of the ocean";
- "Not only Beaches";
- "Lloret after the sailing ships".
They all offer a fascinating insight into the city's history, learning almost everything about the region's maritime history at different times of its development.
Unfortunately, not all museum exhibits are displayed for visitors; several old ships and boats are currently being restored. However, there is also much to see beyond the vessel.
The museum in Lloret de Mar, for example, gives you a chance to see with your own eyes the ancient charts used for nautical navigation, the diving equipment and instruments once used by brave sailors, the models of simple fishing boats, old ships, and even to feel like a full crew member by visiting the cockpit and the captain's cabin.
In any of the halls, you'll be given an information sheet explaining each stand, making your museum tour much easier and more informative.
