How convenient it is when there is a water park near the beach on the seashore! Children who are ready not to get out of the water for hours quickly become bored with the “swim — dry — warm” scheme. And since the water off the coast of the Costa de Almeria is not conducive to long swims, it is better to transfer water fun to a water park, for example, Parque Acuatico Mario Park near the resort of Roquetas de Mar.
The water park in Roquetas de Mar is small, and you don't have to spend the whole day in it (you can buy an evening ticket for that). The main advantages are the tranquillity, the green areas and the absence of queues.
The leisure centre is the children's pool. There's a playground, fountain mushrooms, tiny slides and slides for the older kids. There are beach umbrellas and sun loungers around the pool, so parents can watch their children from the comfort of their poolside.
Using sun loungers is subject to a charge, but Mario Park allows you to sunbathe on your mat or towel. Apart from the children's pool which is 40 cm deep, the water park also has a 1.55 m deep family pool, a wave pool and a Jacuzzi.
Of course, the water park Parque Acuatico Mario Park in Roquetas de Mar will not strike the imagination of those who have gone down Spain's most extreme slides. But even here, there are two very popular slides with free-fall effects. These are the steep Kamikaze slides, which are 20 metres high. Children are allowed to go down them higher than 1.20 m. Another downhill for the adventurous is the 86-metre-long Black Hole tunnel. Two people can use it simultaneously.
Other attractions are suitable for the whole family: the open winding Toboggan slide, the 4 Multipistas downhill slides and the mischievous Rio Bravo. Like any other water park in Costa Almeria, Mario Park is only available in the summer season. There is a pizzeria and café on site and a picnic area.
