Zoos have long become a common place for excursions with children. But in island countries, zoological gardens look special: probably because the habitat for many exotic animals was not artificially created — they live in these parts. Natura Park Mallorca invites you to visit heat-loving lemurs and treat parrots with grains.
This private zoo was established in 1998. Today it occupies an area of 33 000 square kilometres, and it contains 500 species of animals. That is a great place to make your children's holiday in Mallorca fun and educational. Fun — because many safe animals walk along the paths, they can be stroked and scratched behind the ear. Informative — because at Natura Parc Mallorca, you can see new animals and hear about how zoos contribute to wildlife conservation. They even rescue abandoned pets.
You can get around the zoo without missing anything with the help of the map issued at the box office. But there are a few places that deserve special attention. First, it's a pen with lemurs. It is open to visitors several times a day, and having fruits or vegetables with you is advisable as a treat. Ring-tailed lemurs, charming and friendly creatures, will be happy to eat out from your hands. By the way, at certain hours, you can participate in the feeding of parrots.
Secondly, the Toka-Toka petting zoo has been created especially for kids. Domestic animals live there, and most importantly, you can see baby animals: goatlings, piglets, ducklings, and chickens.
Thirdly, in Natura Park Mallorca, there is a cave where bats live. See how they have adapted to life in the dark.
All the inhabitants are generally good:
- monkeys and turtles;
- peacocks and foxes;
- jaguars and porcupines;
- owls and kangaroos;
- panthers and leopards;
- zebras and buffaloes.
Preschoolers will probably see many new animals. So, in children's books, they do not draw an African civet or a Patagonian mara — but in this Mallorca zoo, they are.
At Natura Parc, your comfort is the top priority. For this reason, a large parking lot is equipped here; the territory is fully adapted for people with disabilities. You can also find large recreation areas and an entertaining play area where the little family members can have fun while the parents catch their breath. A lot of greenery facilitates a good rest on the territory and a barbecue area.
There are plenty of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, such as pony rides, camel rides, horseback riding, hiking and more.
A small bar/cafeteria in typical Mallorcan style invites guests to take a break and recharge their batteries while browsing photos on the terrace with a cup of coffee or a soft drink.
