Overview
The Alaska Chinese Association offers a unique cultural experience through its Yen Wulin Alaska Chinese School, which has been fostering an appreciation for Chinese language and culture since 1984. The school provides a welcoming environment for students of all ages, from kindergarten to 12th grade, as well as an adult class. Classes focus on speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing in both traditional and simplified Chinese characters.
In addition to language classes, the association organizes various cultural activities, including traditional dance, music, and arts and crafts. These activities help students and community members appreciate and engage with Chinese culture. The association also offers an adult English class for newcomers, providing a supportive environment to learn basic conversational English and American culture.
The Alaska Chinese Association's efforts extend beyond education, as it hosts numerous cultural events throughout the year, such as the Chinese New Year and Moon Festival celebrations. These events are open to the public and feature traditional performances, food, and activities that bring the community together. The association's commitment to cultural exchange and education enriches the lives of its members and the broader Anchorage community.
