Overview
The ATY Summer Conservatory, hosted by the Alaska Theatre of Youth, is a month-long performing arts camp in Anchorage, Alaska, designed to ignite creativity and develop theatrical skills in children and teens. Located at the UAA Fine Arts Building, this program offers a range of immersive experiences in acting, singing, and dancing for participants aged 4-18.
Camp Highlights
1. Music Theatre Conservatory (Ages 8-15): A full-day program running from May 27 to June 21. Students will learn the fundamentals of acting, voice, and movement while rehearsing for a fully staged production of *Disney’s Finding Nemo Kids*. The camp culminates in two live performances.
2. Advanced Music Theatre Conservatory (Ages 13-18): Designed for experienced performers, this program delves deeper into theatrical techniques and challenges students with complex roles. Participants can choose between half-day or full-day options.
3. Acting Conservatory (Ages 8-15): Running from July 7 to July 26, this three-week camp focuses on acting fundamentals, including stage combat, character development, and improvisation. Students will perform *Totally Red*, a creative retelling of *Little Red Riding Hood*.
4. Triple Threat Programs: These one- to two-week intensives combine singing, dancing, and acting for a fast-paced introduction to musical theater. Options include “Sci-Fi” and “Christmas in July” themes.
5. Fairytale Theatre & Mini Triple Threat (Ages 5-7): Shorter programs designed for younger children to explore theater through play-based activities and crafts.
